Pure Reason: Think Right and For Yourself!
We send our kids to school in our world everyday to learn facts. Or at least what is presented as them, but why
don't we ever teach our kids how to think? We are all taught from early on to simply memorize facts and formulas. We
in a sense become slaves to those creating the curriculum. What happens when history is manipulated or social
policies are fed to our kids? You get a world controlled by the elite, who may have their best interests at heart,
but unfortunately not your childs. I was always shocked by the amount of fellow believers I've come across
in my time that had no clue why they believed. Their argument for defending their faith was no deeper than
because the bible says so. Hardly the rational evidence needed to convert the skeptic.
The new science of mind control is all around us and a world like the movie 1984 could be
right around the corner. If we sit back and do nothing that is. Mind control is not just being
done in secret experiments, but it is used by our schooling systems, media, etc. You probably heard
of the frames of popcorn that were added to movies some time ago that significantly increased sales. This
obviously is unethical but as you already know ethics are on their way out in our world.
I believe it is time that we start teaching our children and learning for ourselves to think and reason
right. Philosophy and Logic are essential schools of study for everyone, especially children. Few things
are more important than teaching someone how to think. How we think determines so much in our lives, and stupid
thinking causes too many problems in our world. We all think we know how to think, but it is an art that
needs to be learned. And something as simple as a Philosophy 101 class is a good place to start.
The number one problem that gets in the way of pure thought is our biases. You can see this at the
simplest level at a football game. When there is a close call on the field almost all the home
crowd is angry when it doesn't go their way. While the other side is angry if it doesn't go theirs. We
like to think in ways that immediately gratify ourselves and avoid pain. It is easier to believe that
which maintains our level of comfort, whether it be physical or emotional, than that which leads to pain.
To think purely, without bias, is critical to finding G-d, the truth and making good decisions
in our lives. Many of us may follow the same religious beliefs of our family, or culture, or even
country. We may go to a particular church simply because we always have and it's the thing to do. To
think purely we must not only know what we believe but why we believe it. We must be in a sense independant
from everyone around us when making such critical decisions. We must also know basic logical
deduction that could be learned in a basic logic class, or by reading a book on the subject.
I will be writing more about this on this site and giving some simple tutorials on philosophy,
logic, and the art of pure thinking.
