Pro All Life
It seems almost everyone these days falls into one of two categories. They are either pro-choice and strongly support the environmental movement
which seeks to protects other life forms, or pro-life and care little for the environmental movement and the rest of life G-d created.
I've only known one person in my time that was strongly pro-life and also strongly for the environment.
I remember thinking it was a rare combination but I think he had it right. However I have to add that the
environmental movement as a whole in its present form turns me off!
The environmental movement, although it means well, has gone too far in my opinion. There is an extremism developing
around the movement and children are being taught this at a young age. I have even heard of possibly green inspectors
invading our privacy and inspecting our homes! It has become a religion in itself and
at times a form of earth worship. But can we care for Gaia without worshipping her? I think we can.
The bible tells us to be good stewards over the earth and gives us dominion over all life. What this means is if
we don't take care of things, nobody else is going to! The world is devised of many, many systems that all work
together as one. When one of these systems goes down, like for example the heat in your house, it effects everything else.
We've all heard about the bees disappearing and the threat this will have on our food supply. Every system on earth depends
on every other system. Just like what goes on in one country can effect the whole world.
I do believe as the Bible says that G-d will restore everything upon his return. And I used to think because this
is the case that we don't need to worry about the earth and ecosystems and all that jazz. But as the Bible commands
us to be good stewards just as it commands us not to murder each other, we should care.
And until G-d does come back, we should do our best to follow all of his commands.
We certainly don't want to all starve to death while we're waiting on his return.
Abortion
No matter how you slice it abortion is a sin, it is the taking of life that G-d created. Have you ever wondered
who starts the heart of a fetus? Hearts don't come beating, at some point they need to be started.
G-d is part of the creation of all life and we are noone to take it away. The problem is what is
called reproductive rights is tied to the womens movement and women have been brainwashed into thinking that
by giving up their right to abort a fetus/baby that they are giving up their rights they worked so hard to gain.
But nothing could be farther from the truth. The most important thing anyone
could ever do in giving new life was designated to women. Men will never know the joy and connection
a mother has with a child, from conception to delivery, to their first day at school, and to their wedding day.
Men will never understand the intesnse pain that results in the beginning of life and the joy that it brings.
Women have been had and now believe taking away precious life is a form of empowerment for them. If you read through
the rest of this website you will see that I am all for women's rights and will do everything I can
to change things for the better. But I could never support the right to take away human life.
I think it's time for women to re-evaluate what it truly means to have equality with men, and to move away from
thinking the right to take life has anything to do with this. I think it's time for men to give what we've kept
from women for too long, their equality and rights. Then they won't have to think the right to abort
a fetus is a form of empowerment.
Bad Arguments For Abortion
It is said that a fetus is part of a womens body and that a women has the right to do whatever she wants with her own body.
This argument is faulty from the beginning. In philosophy we say someone is begging the question when they start with
a faulty premise, or create what is called a straw argument. For example if I said I am smarter than everyone,
therefore everyone should listen to me. You would probably laugh because I haven't proved my premise in any way.
If I truly was smarter than everyone then perhaps people should take notice to what I say.
But proving that is another story. Just like this straw argument is the one for abortion. You see it starts with
the premise that a fetus is SOLEY part of a women's body and only just a part of her body like a liver or spleen.
But this is simply not true. You see it took part of a man (his sperm) to fertilize the egg and produce the child.
So part of that fetus is from part of a man. Also we've shown that fetuses could develop in test tubes.
In other words the fetus is not dependent upon staying in the whomb and an entity unto itself. So the truth is that
the fetus is part of the mother, part of the father, and also it's own entity. If you are going to buy this argument
then you have to agree that having a fetus removed is no different from having a spleen taken out or clipping a fingernail.
But we all know this isn't the case, there is a very big difference. So this argument is nothing more than what is called
in philosophy as begging the question (see wicki) and
no reason to justify taking a life.
Abortion Is About Women's Rights
There is one simple flaw to this argument, and that is that roughly half of aborted fetuses are female!
So we are trying to protect the rights of the female population by having the right to kill young baby girls.
Perhaps some of these young girls who were aborted might have been fighting for abortion rights today as we speak.
Do you see the irony? If we truly want to protect women's rights, then we need to stop abortion and the killing
of those who would end up being, well women.
What About Back Alley Abortions
We've all heard this argument a thousand times. And yes it is tragic that anyone ever had to experience a back alley abortion. We can't seperate this from our discussion here. It is a shame that these young women lived in a society where they would be branded as no good for the rest of their lives by becoming pregnant. Something was defintelely wrong with society when a young woman would go to this length to avoid public shame. But the solution is not the right to kill and take life, the solution is changing the hearts and minds of those so cold at heart. The problem was the lack of love and compassion in our world. If a child flunks out of high school in Japan and then commits suicide, does it mean children should have the right to not go to school? No it means the pressure these kids face needs to change, and parents need to stop demanding perfection from their kids. You see we've used a horrible situation as a means to shock and manipulate society into accepting abortion. The truth is if we compare the amount of lives lost have this procedure by a non-professional with the amount of babies aborted everyday, there is no comparison. We are in a way killing millions to save the few. So this argument is a poor one, but again we can't deny the horror these young women had to face. The answer is not abortion but a change of heart in our world, people forgiving one another for their mistakes and not branding each other for life for them.
Young Mothers Can't Take Care of their Baby
There is a simple answer to this one and it's called adoption. Whatever the reason a woman becomes pregnant, it is not the fault of the baby. If someone forced a young 4 year old child on you that you didn't want nor could take care of, would you have the right to kill it? Not at all! It's not the child's fault no matter how difficult the circumstances that brought the child to you. You would naturally try and find someone else who could care for that child. The solution in the case of becoming pregnant is to put your child up for adoption. There are many woman who cannot have children who would love to care for your child.
Compassion for those Who've Had Abortions
We need to be careful when discussing abortion as many women have had them. Some may become very angry as it brings up feelings they care not to deal with at the moment. So we need to make our case if we feel led to, but being ever mindful that someone we are speaking with may have had an abortion. We also need to be careful not to judge those who have had abortions. Most woman who have had abortions did so when they were very young and going through a very difficult time. These woman need to be loved and accepted for who they are and many need healing from the trauma they went through. To those who have had an abortion, I remind you of what David said in the Bible when he lost his newborn son, that he (baby) would not come to me, but I would go to him. I believe you will see your child one day and that all innocent children go straight to heaven.
To The Hardcore Feminist
I know who you are and how you think. But what if women's rights were restored everywhere else in our world outside of the aboriton issue? WOuld you be open then to what
I have to say about abortion? I think abortion is an extreme reaction to the issues women face in our world.
I think it times for men to yield the proper balance of power back to women, but also that we need to stop taking
life in the name of freedom and women's rights. Let's restore women's rights together and respect all
life in our world. Let's show women that they can feel empowered without the need to be able to take the
life of their unborn child. Let's restore the balance and bend on both ends here.
Every heart that was started in every life form there is, was started by the hand of G-d.
