Gender Rule
There are two forces present in our universe, the anima (male) and the animus (female). (Please note that
I am not talking about dualism, nor do I support it.) These two properly integrated forces keep things in balance.
In our society, we see the effects of this imbalance in children who are raised
by a single mother or a single father. No matter how you slice it, men and women are different creatures and
were created to compliment each other, not to compete for authority. Something is very wrong when men and women
are pitted against one another.
Women have had it rough in our world. In some countries, they are treated like
second class citizens or even killed just because of their gender. In biblical times, the witness of a woman didn't
even count. Polygamy was very common and acceptable with some men having large harems. For example, King Solomon had
seven hundred wives of royal lineage and an additional three hundred concubines. (I Kings 11:3)
Something in my mind (and in the mind of my wife) seems very wrong about all this. Should women be forced to hide
their faces as they walk through town? Although I am a man and am often turned off by feminism,
I think things need to change. I believe radical feminism often reacts too harshly to the problems
women face and takes things to a far extreme. Sometimes this is a necessary evil when things are real
bad, but at some point things need to balance out. Otherwise, we are left with the same problem in reverse. You
often hear that men have ruled the world for so many thousands of years and it's now time
for women to show the men how it's done. While this can be a powerful statement to make on a tv talk
show to rally the troops, it is not the answer. Women and men need each other and were not meant
to be segregrated. Perhaps we can't live with each other or without each other, but in my opinion without is far worse.
It all comes down to who is in charge. For a long time men have had the authority
in the home and in government. Throughout history, men did a pretty poor job of running things. Is the solution
for women to keep fighting to take power away from men with hopes to turn the tables or should things remain status quo.
Because I feel that men and women provide a great compliment to each other, I propose
men give in to what I am calling Gender Rule. I believe it is time for men to yield the rightful portion of power to women
that they deserve.
What is Gender Rule?
Going back in history, we see the model of the King and Queen, Prince and Princess, which gave both
the male and female population substantial representation. Problems often arose because it gave too much power to
elitist minded people and resulted in a poor ruling entity. The King and Queenship were inherited by blood and
it only took one rich snobby kid to ruin the kingdom. Although this model had its problem, it did
give proper representation to the sexes. So what did we do? We eliminated the model of King and
Queen all together. In England the Royals are still very influencial in society, however, they no longer
have the ruling power they once did. So what happens when you combine this old model with the system
we use today in the United States? You get Gender Rule!
Proposal for Gender Rule
What I am proposing is the following structure for government:
King (President), Queen (Co-President; equal in power)
The King will be a man who is elected with a female running mate. Each potential pair
will be matched by simple private consent of both the King and Queen candidates. Once they
agree to pair up, they will run as a team for office. The pair does not necessarily need to be married
but should be familiar with one another and work well together.
The King and Queen's distribution of power will be divided into offices. One office might be the economy,
another the military, another health care, etc. For example, the King may rule over the Economy while the Queen
rules over Health Care. Offices for each area of rule will be divided between
the King and Queen based on their unique strengths and weaknesses. This will eliminate authority disputes over
decisions as each office will have its own governing leader. That leader would have the final descision
in their particular office, but they would also work as a team on each area of responsibility. So the King and Queen would both equally
invest their attention on the economy and aim to come up with a balanced solution, however, the final decision for this
office would go to the King and vice versa for Health Care. Standard offices would be created to cover
all the affairs of rule, but the governing leader may differ within each administration based on each King and Queen's
unique skills and interests. Offices will be chosen at the start of
each term by mutual consent. If an agreement can't be made, a third party will arbitrate to place each
in their best possible offices.
This model will also be passed down to the Senate where there are two Senators from each state. One Senator
will be male and the other female. The same will be done for the House with 50% of the seats going
to men and the other half to women.
This same model will be used at the state level with a Governor and Governess replacing
the sole Governor. The same standard offices will be filled equally by the two rulers.
